1. S + often / usually / alway + V(ed) = S + used to + V (inf)

• Ex: I often ran there when I was young = I used to run there when I was young.

2. S + be + adj = S + be + a / an + adj + N

• Ex: He is handsome = He is a handsome boy.

3. S + be + accustomed to + N / Ving = S +be used to + N / Ving

• Ex: I’m accustomed to the weather here = I’m used  to the weather here.

4. S + prefer (hiện tại) + sb + to V(inf) = S would  rather sb + V (quá khứ) + sth

• Ex: I prefer you to go out for a while  = I’d rather you went out for a while.

5. Although + clause = Despite + N = In spite of + N

• Ex: Although she’s old, she’s still in good health = Despite her old age, she’s still in good heatth = In spite of her old age, she’s still in good health.

6. S + remember + to do sth = S + don’t forget to do sth

• Ex: I remember to buy milk = I don’t forget to buy milk.

7. Succeed in doing sth = manage to do sth

• Ex: I succeed in getting good grades = I manage to get good grades.

8. S + can + V(inf) = S + be + able to do sth

• Ex: She can fly = She’s able to fly.

9. S + be + too + adj + (for sb) + to do sth = S + be + adj + enough (for sb) + to do sth = S + be + so + adj + that + clause

• Ex: It is too heavy for me to lift = It is heavy enough for me to lift = It is so heavy that I cannot lift it.

10. This is the first time + S + have / has + (ever) + V (p2) = S + have / has + never + V(p2) + before

• Ex: This is the first time I have ever met him = I have never met him before.

11. Câu mệnh lệnh = S + should (not) do sth

• Ex: Don’t touch the vase = You shouldn’t touch the vase.

12. It + take / took sb + (khoảng thời gian) + to do sth = S + spend(s) / spent + (khoảng thời gian) + doing sth

• Ex: I took her 3 hours to read that book = She spent 3 hours reading that book.

13. S + understand + O = S + be + aware of + O

• Ex: I understand that = I’m aware of that.

14. S + like + doing sth = S + be interested in sth = S + enjoy doing sth

• Ex: I like playing football = I’m interested in football = I ẹnjoy playing football.

15. S + suggest + that + clause = Why don’t…!

• Ex: I suggest that you go out = Why don’t you go out!

16. S + request sb to do sth = S + have sb do sth

• Ex: I request him to go outside = I have him go outside.

17. If +S1 + V (hiện tại), S2 + would + V(inf) = Should + S1 + V (hiện tại), S2 + will + V(inf)

• Ex: If I you see her, you will be surprised = Should you see her, you will surprised.

18. If + S1 + V(ed) , S2 + would + V(inf) = Were + S1 + (not) + O, S2 + would + V(inf)

• Ex: If I were you, I would hide = Were I you, I would hide.

19.  Be + not + worth + V-ing = There is no point in doing sth

• Ex: It is not worth going crazy about him = There is no point in going crazy about him.

20. It’s + adj + (for sb) + to do sth = S + find it + adj + to V

• Ex: It’s hard to accomplish = I find it hard to accomplish.

21. S + be + crared of sth = S + be + afraid of sth

• Ex: I’m scared of horros movie = I’m afraid of horros movie.

22. S + let someone do sth = S + be + allowed to do sth = S + allow(s) + someone to do sth

• Ex: My parents let me go out tonight = I’m allowed to go out tonight = My parents allow me  to go out tonight.
